Strength for the Waiting
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
Waiting is one of the hardest parts of faith. We wait for answers, for healing, for a breakthrough. Isaiah speaks to people who were tired of waiting, and he makes them a promise.
Waiting on God is not passive. It is attentive, ready and expectant. As we keep our eyes on him, he exchanges our weakness for his strength.
Notice the order: wings, running, walking. Sometimes the miracle is simply that we keep walking and do not faint. Whatever pace today requires, his strength is enough.
Lord, I am waiting on you. Renew my strength today, and help me keep walking in faith even when I cannot see the end. Amen.
