All Things Working Together
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
This verse does not say that all things are good. Loss and sickness are not good. It says that God works all things together for good for those who love him.
Think of a skilled cook: flour, salt and raw eggs are not pleasant on their own, but in the right hands they become something good. God is able to take even painful ingredients and work them into his purpose.
The next verse tells us the goal: that we would become like Jesus. Whatever you face today, you can say: God is still working.
Father, I trust you to work in every part of my life, even the parts I do not understand. Make me more like Jesus through it all. Amen.
