Abide in the Vine
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
John 15:5
A branch does not strain to produce fruit. It stays connected to the vine, and fruit grows as life flows through it.
“Without me ye can do nothing” is not an insult; it is an invitation. We were never designed to live the Christian life in our own strength. Our part is to abide — to stay close through the Word, prayer and fellowship.
When we feel dry, the answer is rarely to try harder. It is to come closer. Take five quiet minutes today with no phone, read John 15:1-8 slowly, and simply stay in his presence.
Lord Jesus, you are the vine and I am the branch. Keep me close to you today, and let your life flow through me. Amen.
